The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 has extended the public comment period to submit public comment on EPA’s Proposed Plan to address lead and other heavy metals in private, domestic drinking water wells at residential properties, including child care facilities, at the Southwest Jefferson County Mining NPL Superfund Site, which includes all of Jefferson County. Comments will now be accepted until Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.
