All-Hazards Radios

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) highly recommends everyone keep at least one National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) All-Hazards Weather Radio with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) capability in your home and workplace. These radios can be programmed to automatically deliver severe weather watches and warnings affecting the places you care about.

Outdoor Warning Sirens

Jefferson County does not have an outdoor warning siren system though some of its municipalities do.

Reverse 911

Emergency alerts are available to Jefferson County residents via Everbridge. This service is free-of-charge and administered by Jefferson County 911 Dispatch. It delivers automated weather warnings and public safety alerts via text, by calling your cellular phone, home, business, email and through the Everbridge App. Everbridge also allows Jefferson County 911 Dispatch to issue IPAWS alerts. IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) is the nation’s official alert and warning infrastructure to alert the public of serious emergencies.
